PhD duties

To defend his PhD, the student must fulfill some additional conditions.

During their PhD, students of EDSC must, in addition to their research work :

• Take 54 hours of extra lessons in the topic of their research field during their 3 years of PhD (12 conferences and an "Après-Midi Thématiquee per year)

• Take 54 hours of "cross-training and professional development during their 3 years of PhD. Registration for these courses, as well as a summary of those carried out, can be found on the website of the College of Doctoral Schools.

• Give a least one oral presentation-conference or poster session in a congress or a colloqium, be it national or internationall. A grant can be awarded by EDSC to financially help the students with travel expenses (Limited to 1 grant per student for the entire PhD duration). The days of the ED, UMR are not considered as oral communications to be able to defend.

• To undergo a mid-thesis exam  by respecting the rules of operation of the ED for the composition of the jury

• If need be, to validate extra Master UE's which have to be approved by the EDSC.

These obligations must be met not later than the submission of the jury proposition for the defense. All information related to this must be communicated to the EDSC secretariat. Only files of students relieved with their obligations will be acknowledged by the EDSC.
